The Indian poker circuit welcomed the 4 card variant of poker with open arms, and it’s now time to introduce the newest addition – 5 Card PLO.
Similar to regular 4 card Pot Limit Omaha, this variant of the game requires a player to use 2 hole cards and 3 community cards and is played in a ‘Pot Limit’ format. The only difference is that players are dealt with 5 hole cards as opposed to 4, adding an ‘extra’ element of fun to the game!
While there is no doubt that this variant of the game is more exciting, it would be unwise to dive into the game assuming that it plays out exactly like regular PLO. Here are a few factors to keep in mind:
- Ranges should be tighter. Remember – you’re not the only one with 5 cards!
- Completing draws (straights and flushes) are relatively easy. Chase them with caution. You don’t want to hit your flush and find that someone else hit a better one!
- Premium Hold’em hands like AA and KK are further reduced in value. Be sure to play hands based on how well they connect with the flop.
- More cards mean more action and therefore more swings. Bankroll Management and planning is extremely important.
The above can serve as basic tips to get started, but there’s a lot more to the game. For now, hop on board the PLO express and enjoy the new variant on PokerBaazi.com!
