Avoid Too Many Poker Hands

If you believe any poker hands can make you a winner then you are on your trail to a blunder. This is considered as the most common mistake that beginner make by not being careful enough with their starting hands. No doubt, some hands can help you win more money but you also have to understand, some hands can also help you in losing more money. So, you surely need to be selective with your hands.

Too Much Bluffing is Bad

You might be influenced by the classy bluffs you see in the World Series of Poker tournaments, but they are just used as the climaxes of the tournaments to increase inquisitiveness among people. You don’t have to follow the misconception of bluffing to win the game. Bluffing occasionally is good here and there, but you don’t have to rely on it to win the game. You will eventually learn the art of bluffing from knowledge and practice. So, it is always better to focus on your cards instead of focusing on bluffing your opponents.

Opponent’s Cards Matters

While playing poker, it is really important to cogitate the strength of your opponent’s hand and not just your hand. It will be wise to fold if you think that your opponent has a better hand than you.

Opt Your Opponents Wisely

It indeed makes logic to play against players who are not as good as you. If you are better than your opponents, you will undeniably be a winner in the long run. After all, if you rank at the 5th best poker player, playing with top four will not be a wise thing to do.

Table Position is Important

It is considered as the most important factor in poker, especially in Texas Hold’em. The best position is when you are on the button i.e. when you are last to act on the hand. You can have the knowledge about what kind of hand they have before you get to act. Having a good position can actually make a difference between losing and winning a hand. You can turn a losing hand into a winning hand if you have a good position.

Focus on the Game

You should always focus on how your opponents are playing even when you are not in the hand. After focussing on them, you can understand the moves your opponents make when they have the best hand and what moves they make when they don’t have the best hand. You will have a better opportunity to beat your opponents after grabbing information on how they play in each pot.

Avoid Playing for Too Much Money

Bankroll management is the most important thing to consider in poker tips and strategies. Without proper bankroll management, you might lose a chance to become a winning poker player even after using perfect poker strategy. You should avoid playing at limits where you can lose money and only play at limits that you can afford.

Avoid Too Many Draws

You might face a situation when you are entangled holding half a hand which only requires one card to complete your straight or your flush. It may be wise to call if there is a small amount of betting from your opponent’s side in the hope of making your hand. However, if your opponent is betting heavily, it is not likely to be profitable to chase after these draws.

Suited Cards are a Myth

You should not overrate the suited cards and it is a common saga believed by the beginners. Even if you have suited cards, it will only improve your hand by two percent compared to your hand when not suited. You should fold the small suited cards as the fringe upgrading is too small to warrant calling pre-flop raises. You can lose all your money to a higher flush if it comes when you limp in with your two small suited cards.

Understand the Rules and Follow Them

You will never be able to win a poker game if you are not aware of the basic rules of the poker game. There is no standby for not knowing the rules before you are all set to play the game. It is very important to know the betting patterns and poker rules before you jump in to risk your money. Rules can vary from each casino and card room, but it is extremely important to know the rule where you play.
